鋼は殺され、SPEC A20/A20Mの微細なオーステナイト粒径の要件を確認しなければならない。
熱処理
厚さ40mm以下の厚板は通常圧延状態で供給されます。
厚さ40mm以上の板は熱処理を施す。
厚さ1.5インチ以下の板でノッチ靭性試験が必要な場合は、購入者が特に指定しない限り、熱処理を施す。
購入者の同意を得て、空気中での冷却よりも速い冷却速度で、その後1100～1300℉で焼戻しを行うことで、靭性を向上させることができます。

Chemical Composition
ASTM A516 GR 70 plate shall comply with the chemical requirements to below table 1, unless otherwise modified in S17 of Vacuum Carbon-Deoxidized Steel in A20/A20M.
